The apartment is located in a historic building in a residential area from the period of the First Republic. The spacious and bright living rooms became the basis for our generous concept, which reflects the original values of the area. We have retained authentic features such as frieze wooden floors and partially glazed panelled doors, which we have sensitively renovated. Conversely, inappropriate layers, such as light partitions or built-in furniture, were removed. Hygiene facilities and kitchens that did not meet current requirements were rearranged to make them practical and aesthetically harmonious.

In the three living rooms, we designed original stucco ceiling decorations that reflect the function and character of each room. We unified the ceilings with a final coat of paint, matching the plaster slates on the walls. We complemented the refurbished wooden floors with metal slats that discreetly conceal the heating ducts, creating a clean and undisturbed space. Minimalist flat-front radiators give the rooms a modern look and functionality.

The centrepiece of the sanitary facilities and kitchen is a built-in plywood structure that brings a modern contrast to the historic interior. This structure, set on a poured concrete floor, connects the bathroom, kitchen and hallway. In the hallway it serves as a storage space, in the kitchen it offers integrated cooking modules and space for appliances, while in the bathroom it forms an elegant tiling on the walls. The timeless tiling in the bathroom and the use of luxfer continue the historic character of the apartment while adding practicality.
During the renovation, the space was stripped down to the basic structure and all the technical equipment – heating, gas, sewer, water and electrical – was completely replaced. The new partitions in the sanitary facilities were made of lightweight plasterboard and the walls were plastered. The built-in wardrobe was custom made, and the original wooden doors and trim were refurbished with a tan and new paint.
The renovation of the Dobrovského Street apartment brought harmony between historical elements and modern design. Every detail supports the uniqueness of this bright and elegant interior, which now meets not only the aesthetic but also the functional expectations of contemporary living.

The new spatial layout emphasised promoting the atmosphere of the rooms and preserving their key qualities such as light and views of the surrounding landscape. The through-room layout was removed and the living areas were cleared of original inappropriate features such as lightweight partitions and poor quality built-in wardrobes. The sanitary facilities and kitchens were fitted with features that meet current standards, with an emphasis on creating sufficient storage space, which is often neglected in prefabricated flats. The interior design followed the principles of simplicity, minimalism and lightness.

The apartment has been cleaned down to the rough structure, retaining the newer windows and original parquet floors. A complete refurbishment of the electrical wiring has been carried out with a view to modern layout and ample terminations. The ceilings and walls were stripped of old stucco and refaced with new. The wood floors were refinished, while durable linoleum was laid in other areas. The sanitary facilities were fitted with large format tiles, tiles and a mirror to visually enlarge the space. We also added a counter and built-in cabinet to provide a practical storage solution. The kitchen was designed as a linear assembly with a continuous work surface to ensure maximum functionality and working comfort.
The renovation has produced a well thought out and harmonious interior with attention to detail, quality and durability of materials. The result is a modern and functional apartment that meets today’s living requirements.

The design of the stucco decoration is based on our own work. The process began with detailed planning, which included the spatial layout and ornamentation of the decoration in each room, adapted to its purpose. The apartment includes three living rooms, each with a specific function and level of intimacy. We took these characteristics into account and designed a unique form of ceiling decoration for each room that accentuates these characteristics. The design combines geometric and organic shapes, created from individual pieces that we designed and manufactured ourselves.

Using our innovative workflow, we produced all the necessary parts and proceeded to the actual implementation. Although each room has its own original decoration, the assembly process was efficient. All assemblies were designed to consist of a limited number of elements that can be easily combined, adapted and rotated. This allowed us to achieve a wide range of variability without unnecessary complication.

The final installation brought subtle details and lightness to the interior, perfectly matching the airy and bright atmosphere of the apartment. The result is an interior with added value and unique character. In addition to the installation itself, we also created tools to re-manufacture the elements, allowing us to easily replicate the decor for future projects.
