Dobrovského reconstruction

The apartment is located in a historic building in a residential area from the period of the First Republic. The spacious and bright living rooms became the basis for our generous concept, which reflects the original values of the area. We have retained authentic features such as frieze wooden floors and partially glazed panelled doors, which we have sensitively renovated. Conversely, inappropriate layers, such as light partitions or built-in furniture, were removed. Hygiene facilities and kitchens that did not meet current requirements were rearranged to make them practical and aesthetically harmonious.

In the three living rooms, we designed original stucco ceiling decorations that reflect the function and character of each room. We unified the ceilings with a final coat of paint, matching the plaster slates on the walls. We complemented the refurbished wooden floors with metal slats that discreetly conceal the heating ducts, creating a clean and undisturbed space. Minimalist flat-front radiators give the rooms a modern look and functionality.

The centrepiece of the sanitary facilities and kitchen is a built-in plywood structure that brings a modern contrast to the historic interior. This structure, set on a poured concrete floor, connects the bathroom, kitchen and hallway. In the hallway it serves as a storage space, in the kitchen it offers integrated cooking modules and space for appliances, while in the bathroom it forms an elegant tiling on the walls. The timeless tiling in the bathroom and the use of luxfer continue the historic character of the apartment while adding practicality.
During the renovation, the space was stripped down to the basic structure and all the technical equipment – heating, gas, sewer, water and electrical – was completely replaced. The new partitions in the sanitary facilities were made of lightweight plasterboard and the walls were plastered. The built-in wardrobe was custom made, and the original wooden doors and trim were refurbished with a tan and new paint.
The renovation of the Dobrovského Street apartment brought harmony between historical elements and modern design. Every detail supports the uniqueness of this bright and elegant interior, which now meets not only the aesthetic but also the functional expectations of contemporary living.
